We are currently seeking a Field Specialist, an entry level role that helps manage data collection for market and opinion research. In this detail-focused role supporting qualitative and quantitative research projects, your efforts will ensure projects are properly timed and executed to meet unequivocal deadlines. We will depend on you to help manage telephone surveys, web surveys, intercept surveys and focus group studies to ensure appropriate research data is collected for analysis.

Duties include but are not limited to:

-Assist with quality control for telephone surveys and online surveys

-Oversee vendor performance by monitoring telephone interviews

-Program online survey questionnaires in Qualtrics

-Proofread and test survey questionnaire programming in Qualtrics and Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI) systems

-Use online interfaces to create demographic reports on survey populations

-Use tools including Excel and R to clean survey respondent lists and prepare them for data collection

-Communicate effectively with vendors and internal teams.

This full-time hourly position provides a flexible schedule that includes some evening and weekend hours. The position is open to all applicants in the U.S.  EMC Research has offices in Columbus, OH; Irving, TX; Oakland, CA; Portland, OR; Seattle, WA; and Washington, D.C.   Temporarily during the pandemic, all operations are remote; and as a company we are still exploring what the future of our presence in specific office locations might look like.

Minimum Qualifications:

-Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s degree or 1 to 3 years related experience and/or training

-Excellent computer skills, including 1-2 years of experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and database management tools, and the ability to learn new programs easily and effectively

We are currently seeking an Analytics Associate to perform predictive modeling and machine learning analyses, as well as other advanced statistical analyses in support of quantitative research projects. The Analytics Associate will use R to clean, mine, and assess large datasets in order to apply machine learning and other data science techniques, create static and dynamic visualizations of data, and perform other analyses as need to answer pertinent research questions.

Minimum Qualifications:

-Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in a quantitative field; or 3-4 years experience in quantitative role

-Experience managing and cleaning data, solving analytical problems, and answering research questions using a programming language such as R or Python

-Experience building, validating, and applying machine learning methods to real world problems and the ability to articulate strengths, weakness, and differences between different models and paradigms

-Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts and experience with their applications

-Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable articulating insights from data

-High level of attention to detail, self-motivated, proactive, and willingness to learn

-Eagerness to wear multiple hats and lend a hand to your colleagues

-Ability to work without direct supervision and operate in a team structure

-A desire to work with survey, voter, and commercial data and work in the public opinion research field

Additional Desired Qualifications: Successful applicants will have additional strengths in some of the following.

-Strong data visualization, data wrangling, and/or data mining skills using R

-Experience using SQL

-Familiarity with R Markdown, LaTeX, and/or Jupyter

-Experience using GIS software, including ArcMap and/or QGIS

-Experience building and maintaining web applications, namely R Shiny dashboards

-Familiarity with distributed data/computing software, such as Apache Spark and Hadoop

-Prior exposure to AWS and/or Azure

-Experience with web scraping and/or using APIs

-Familiarity with natural language processing

The Data Associate will work with hundreds of primary datasets and learn statistical processes in R. Responsibilities include using R to clean, process and troubleshoot data sets during data collection; as well as analyze data and produce data reports and deliverables. Additional tasks will include quality control checks of research products and assisting with mapping and data visualization.
